Neymar Could Miss Up to a Month of Action and Lose Decisive Bayern Match

Published

on

Neymar sustained the injury during a challenge against Lille in their French league game on Sunday. The club released a statement saying that no rupture had occurred, however media reports suggest otherwise. PSG’s medical staff are estimating that Neymar will be out of action for between three and four weeks.

This means he would miss not only the Bayern Munich game but also upcoming matches against Dijon, Montpellier and Lens. Furthermore, he could be in doubt for their Champions League quarter final if they were to progress past Munich.

Losing Neymar for such an important stretch of the season would be a major blow to PSG’s hopes of winning both domestic and international titles this season. However, they have been buoyed by the return from injury of summer signing Mauro Icardi and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

PSG travel to Marseille this Sunday for their next league clash, with Neymar set to sit out due to his injury. While it is still unclear how long his absence will be, it is sure to be a difficult period for coach Mauricio Pochettino and his team as they look to stay on track for success this season.

PSG Coach Speaks on Neymar’s Ankle Injury: “We Will See the Severity”

On Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain won a dramatic 4-3 victory against Lille in the 24th round of the French Championship. Despite the win, the team received a blow with Neymar going off the field in tears just six minutes into the second half due to an ankle injury.

After the game, PSG coach Christophe Galtier spoke about Neymar’s injury and what will be done with him. “Neymar probably has an ankle sprain and we’ll see how severe it is. He’s being examined now,” he said.

Before his injury, Neymar had scored a goal and provided an assist during the match. This was the same ankle he had injured during the World Cup three weeks ago. As PSG look towards a crucial Champions League match against Bayern Munich where they trail 1-0 from their first leg encounter, they will have to manage without Neymar for their next league match against Olympique de Marseille on 26th March at 16:45 (Brazilian time).

At the top of Ligue 1 standings, PSG are currently leading with 57 points from 24 rounds. The team will now have to find ways to cope up with Neymar’s absence who had been one of their star players this season scoring 19 goals and providing 11 assists in 25 matches.

However, it remains to be seen if any other player can step up and fill in Neymar’s shoes when it matters most. With an experienced coach like Christophe Galtier at helm, PSG fans can still hope that their team can show some resilience and come out victorious from their upcoming fixtures despite having lost one of their key players.
